Dr. Rashid Mazhar
Cardiothoracic Surgeon and
Innovator
Dr. Rashid Mazhar, a cardiothoracic surgeon and innovator, is a graduate of Dow Medical College with advanced surgical certifications (MCPS, FCPS, FRCS) and specialized training from Harefield Hospital, London. Currently a senior consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar, he focuses on minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery. Passionate about innovation, he collaborates with engineers to develop AI-powered, cost-effective medical devices that enhance patient care. His work has led to 4 granted patents, 7 pending, and over $2.5 million in research funding. Notable innovations include the Oro Tracheal Defibrillator, RM Monitor, CPR simulators, and ventilator circuit dividers. With 40+ academic publications and multiple awards, Dr. Mazhar also holds academic roles at institutions like Weill Cornell and Qatar Medical College, and serves on the advisory board at Qatar University
